it's totally worth it if you're living breathing PCs
if not you should wait for the next gen and get a console instead
thanks for leaving a comment, it's much appreciated :)

Yeah, I'm first and foremost a PC gamer. With next-gen consoles being x86 and AMD based, Ubisoft have stated that it makes sense for future titles like Watch Dogs to be developed with PC as a lead platform and ported over to consoles rather than the reverse that has been common place. Hopefully that means an end to poorly ported games now, and more developers will go down that route.

It's an exciting time for gaming in general.

I was going to wait for the HD89xx cards but it looks like they're not going to be released until Q4 of this year, and I'm in much need for a video card upgrade (my HD6870 struggles with Crysis 3). So I'm just going to go ahead with the HD7970. :)

tell me about it, i got a hold of AC3 when it came out .. played fine for the first 20 minutes, i enter Boston and BAM .. FPS drop to 8-12
been yelling at Ubisoft for months now, they keep telling me and the three hundred others that they're "aware" of the problem and "investigating" it
DLCs came out, Next title announced, and no PC patch released to fix the problem ..
Bad Ports are inevitable friend, weather it's Ubisoft or any other, somebody is BOUND to do it ..
Anyway happy upgrading, i still think you should wait and get a console, or at least wait for 7970s prices to drop :)

I'm in the same boat with AC3. No matter what settings I use (low, medium or max), the results are the same although not quite as bad - 32fps minimum (my native resolution is 1440x900). It makes you wonder why a company like Rocksteady fixed the performance issues with Batman: Arkham City within a month yet Ubisoft has done nothing.

The prices are probably as low as they're be going here in the UK, especially since some online retailers still offer the old Never Settle Bundle as well as Never Settle Reloaded (so 5-6 games for free) - EŁ3,155 for a PowerColor HD7970 and EŁ3,246 for a Gigabyte HD7970.

I probably will be getting a next-gen console as well at some point. The PS4 sounds great.
